New York:- The First Big Trip

After spending 5 years studying in rural Australia (well, Armidale is kinda rural. It's more rural than Newcastle ok!) I knew that the last thing I wanted to do was to settle down into a Big-5 firm in Sydney, work 70+ hrs per week and earn bucketloads of cash. Well, the earning bucketloads of cash bit wasn't so distasteful, but spending the best years of my life stuck in cubicle-land slaving away on the off chance that I would:

  1. Survive till my 30th birthday
  2. Not burn out
  3. Do a really good job and/or kiss enough arse to be granted a partnership

This was not what I wanted for my life, so I chose to get as far away from that as I possibly could.

Literally.

To the other side of the planet.

So, like thousands of other Australians before me, I answered the call of the empire, and headed back to the mother country. Before I got there, I wanted to blow some cash and rack up a decent credit card bill, so I decided on a six-week trek through the US on the way to London. Here is the story.

Well darn it Geoff, mount up and let's hit the trail! ->
