Avoiding Responsibility

Well, after many months of not really going anywhere interesting, as befits my status as an under-employed bum (read student), I am finally getting back on an aeroplane and heading off for another adventure. This time, I'm heading back to Germany, specifically Berlin. Now you may be whinging 'Geoffrey, you've already been to Berlin, and told us all about your adventures in beer gardens and former-Stasi-torture-chambers-come-uber-cool-niteclub, what on earth could you be going back there for?' And to you I say: football. The worlds greatest celebration of football no less.

Yes, I'm off to the World Cup, for 5 glorious days of sunshine, beer, and relatively soft men dancing about a large patch of grass attempting to put a white ball between two sticks, then swapping after 45 minutes to do it all again, just going the other way. For those of you who don't know, Australia made it to the World Cup Finals (as its more correctly known) for the first time since 1974, and had a great win on Monday, causing several heart attacks for fans by waiting until the last 10 minutes to win the game.

So anyway, I'm off to visit Chilli P in Berlin once again, hopefully he won't destroy my trousers this time, and to bask in the glory that is the heart and soul of football around the world: merchandising!!
