March 14, 2006Those wistful student days are gone againWell it had to happen. It seems that before it even started, my days as a carefree, poor student are soon to end. I'll be finishing classes in April, and there's only one group presentation, one 5,000 word essay, and a 20,000 word disertation between me and the letters 'LLM' after my name. Oh, and a return to the real world. Take a guess which one I am looking forward to the most? Actually to be honest I _am_ looking forward to getting back into the working world. After dealving head-first back into the IT law field, I have got a taste for it again, and this time, I think I will make a bit of a career out of it. Now don't get me wrong, I have neither grown up, nor taken on any responsibility, so this website won't be shutting down. But I am hoping to get a 'real job' and contribute something to the IT law community. At this point in time, I'm looking at going in-house for an IT company - and given my lack of corporate law experience, that means I'm aiming for the big guns - Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Oracle etc... I figure that if I'm going to do this, I'm going to do it right, and that means being at the coalface, making precedents and pushing legal boundaries. I don't really see that happening as a nameless bloke in the back office of a large multi-national corporate law firm. So if anyone out there is looking for an IT lawyer who still has a little bit of his soul left, and is willing to move to pretty much anywhere in the world, give me a call. You know the number!
