Finally!! We're going to the World Cup!!
I will only say this: it's about bloody time! Tonite Australia beat Uraguay on penalties to qualify for the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
It is the first time Australia has qualified since 1974, a long wait, but not as long as it's been since England won the damn thing (and yes, they are still going on about it). Having grown up playing soccer, I have always wanted to see my national team play in the biggest competition. The good part is that there is a good chance that I will still be in Europe when the tournament starts.
This can mean only one thing - busting out Dad's credit card and securing at least one ticket. OH, and brushing up the tonsils. Even though I hate the damn chant, we really don't have anything better, so here goes:
Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi!
