I'm popular!!!
It's amazing how the web works. This site has been up in one form or another for nearly 2 years now, and I generally average about 10 hits per day. Well over the last week I have been averaging 150 hits per day, which hasn't been doing wonders for my bandwidth balance, but illustrates and interesting point about the web.
Why the sudden increase in traffic? For those that haven't ventured that far, in my travel section there is a page about my NYE in Paris in 2003/2004. Our lovely evening at the Palais de Challiot was concluded with a lungfull of tear-gas as the Parisian police attempted to incite/quell a riot on the Champs Ellysee. I was not remiss in adding this detail in my write-up of the night, and sure enough, Google and Yahoo have indexed the page.
So now after 12 nights of rioting in Paris, people start putting 'Paris riot' into Google, and they end up at my site. Which as I said, hasn't done wonders for my bandwidth balance, but at least I am feeling popular :) And really, thats what having a website is all about isn't it?
