February 25, 2005Bad RealisationsSince I first began travelling, I have become much more patriotic. Not patriotic in the 'my government can do no wrong' type way (that really shits me) but patriotic in the sense that I believe that there are some wonderful aspects about Australian society, and that the world would be better a place if some of those aspects were more prevelant around the world. But at the same time, since travelling I have discovered that there are things about my country that I am glad that other parts of the world haven't followed. Our current government for instance. But I don't care about them. Whats worse is when I do care about something from Australia and it sucks. And I had such a realisation the other nite. After enjoying three quiet 'drinks-from-home' at the local 'aussie' bar here in Dublin, I woke up the next morning feeling like absolute dog-shit. Contrast that to the nights of having three Guinness and waking up ready to go in the morning. The difference - all those shitty chemicals and preservatives that we put in our beer. Even the best of the Aussie beers - Hahn and Boags, are still filled with the crap. So from now on, no matter the cost, I will be boycotting Australian beer. As much as I want to support my own, I will defer to my learned collegeue Cartman - Screw you guys, I'm going to have a Becks. Posted by geosta at February 25, 2005 06:27 PM
