Version 2!
It's been a while coming I know. The old site was ugly as hell, but it was functional. So now is the new and improved and faster loading and (well, I think so) slightly more attractive Avoidingresponsibility.com!
There have been a few things taken away, and not a lot added yet, but there is plenty of stuff in the pipeline so check back in a couple of weeks. If you are looking for the archives, that is a work in progress, I will let you know when they are back up.
I got a really interesting email today. Australia is having an election next month, and I had no idea where I was registered to vote (after moving 4 times in three years) so I sent a little query to the Australian Electoral Commission to check out where I was enroled.
Turns out I have been DIS-ENFRANCHISED! And not in the 'you can't go into any more McDonalds', I mean the 'we are going to strike off all those people who will vote against the way we want them to vote and rig the election' a la 'President' Bush and Florida. It was only last month that I was talking to a young lady who had been one of the people dis-enfranchised during the 2000 US election, and now I am faced with the same bloody thing! For some, not having to vote would be a blessing, but I beleive that if you don't make the effort to participate in the selection of your government, you have absolutely no right to bitch about what the subsequently elected government does. So does this mean that you won't be hearing me whinge for the next 4 years? Not bloody likely! I will be heading to the Australian Embassy in Berlin (I am heading there for a week in early October) and venting my frustration and hopefully getting a free BBQ or beer.
On a brighter note, I start uni again this week. It will be good to actually start stretching my brain again, as opposed to only killing it (mmm, Guinness). So if you see/hear me getting really stressed out, don't worry, I managed to survive the first 6 years of study, I will get through the next two :)
