As the season closes

So any good business will, at the end of a peak period, take stock of how they fared during their busy period.

And so The Campey, my airbed-away-from-home for weary travellers, should do the same. And you can all be privy to it.

Ok, outlays include:

1 x double airbed from Argos (€29)
1 x double bed sheet set from Clearys (€25)
1 x foot-operated inflation device (€8)
2 x towels from Pennys (€14)

Total Outlay = €76

Total Income = one bottle of Glenfiddich 12yo, two chocolate mints from London Hilton, two odd socks left by different guests, one pair of female underwear, three bobby pins, and a chilli mill.

So the profit/loss stakes, in financial terms at least, are not that great. But amortising the costs over next year (I am not expecting to have to replace any of the above) should drop the average cost per peak season dramatically). And who knows what kinda fun I could get up to with those odd socks.

Now we will analyse the guests.

Total Number of Guests = 16

Home Country of Guests

Australia = 11
USA = 2
New Zealand = 1
Germany = 1
Trinidad = 1

Guests from Phases's of Geoffrey's Life

Newcastle = 7
Armidale = 2 1/2*
Canberra = 2
Travelling = 4

* One guest was a friend of a friend of mine from Armidale, so only counts as 1/2.

Miscellaneous Statistics

Number of incense sticks burnt to cover 'Geoffrey Smell' = 12
Number of spills of alcohol beverage on carpet = 1
Number of trips to airport to meet/send off guests = 6
Number of guests woken whilst getting ready for work = 11
Number of complaints received = 0

Overall, not a bad season for The Campey. Hopefully I will be entertaining more guests over the winter slow period - we'll see what happens.

Be sure to book early!
