Avoiding Responsibility

So here I am, in Dublin, with a Friday night spare. What am I going to do? Hmm, could go to the pub. Or could go to the movies. Or could go round to Chilli P's house and have a few beers.

Or I could go and dance my arse off at the Paul Van Dyk gig.

Hmm, ....beer...PVD. Beer....PVD.

Oh all right, I'll go and see PVD.

Now for those who are uninitiated in the world of dance music, and in this case, specifically, trance, PVD means absolutely nothing to you. Which is why I suggest you go take a looksee here and go and buy a copy of each of his records (prefereably on vinyl, but CD will just about suffice). You will then discover that this man, is quite simply, the trance god!

So off to Redbox do Chilli P and I head. Five hours later, we are both completely caned and I get home at 4:30am where my guests are just about ready to get up and go to the train station for the journey north. Ok, so I suck as a host, but this is PAUL VAN DYK!

Anyway, the show was pretty decent, I have seen him play at Home in Sydney where I thought his set was much better, more cohesive and flowing. But he banged out the tunes and the crowd was seriously up for it, and a good time was had by all (ok, I am not sure of that, but everyone who I saw had a smile on their face. That could have just been the ecstasy, but I will put my faith in the music).

Anyway, summer officially starts tomorrow, and as I sit here typing, I am slowly drying off from the rain that is pouring down outside. Not an inspiring start to summer, but hey, it's got three months to prove me wrong.

The exciting thing that has happened in the last little while is that I got the responsibility of organising the National College of Ireland Golf Challenge. Which basically means I get to play a round of golf at a really expensive golf course (think E150+ for 18 holes) and get paid to do it :) As those crappy McDonald's commericals say: lovin' it!
